Labradorite was first discovered on the shores of Labrador in northern Canada. The natives believed it was the Northern Lights, captured within a stone.
A cabochon is a shape that is flat on one side and rounded on the other. It is used for setting in jewelry, and is also nice shape for everyday collectors.
